Platform Development · Gold Coast

Platform development in Gold Coast. The backend, data and infrastructure your product scales on.

We design and build the platform underneath the product: APIs, data, cloud and the reliability work that decides whether you scale or stall. Built for Gold Coast teams who would rather ship than re-platform in a year.

Sound familiar?

Why Gold Coast teams call us.

The Gold Coast is an SMB and tourism economy — platforms here win by cutting cost-to-serve and making bookings, operations and reporting reliable, without the cost and weight of enterprise tooling.

The Gold Coast economy is tourism, health and small-to-mid business, so the platform conversation is practical: cost-to-serve, reliable bookings and operations through peak season, and real daily numbers for the owner — not enterprise moonshots.

We right-size everything: reliable under peak load without paying for capacity you don't need the other ten months, affordable embedded Superset analytics instead of per-seat fees, and automation that lets you grow revenue without growing headcount linearly.

The Gold Coast is an SMB and tourism economy where the AI conversation is practical: cost-to-serve, bookings and back-office automation, not moonshots.

"Our backend was built to reach launch. Now it slows every release down."
"We are moving to enterprise customers and our architecture was never designed for it."
"Our data sits in five systems and nobody trusts the numbers on the dashboard."
"We pay per seat for Tableau, Power BI or Looker and the bill grows faster than revenue."
"We have outages we cannot explain and no real observability to find out why."

What we do

What platform engineering actually covers.

Every engagement starts with a 30-minute call. If we cannot tell you something useful in that window, we do not take the work on.

01

Platform and backend architecture

APIs, services and data models designed for where you are going, so new features do not add fragility.

02

Data platform

Pipelines, warehouse and a semantic layer, so the dashboard, the product and finance agree on the numbers.

03

Embedded analytics

Apache Superset and ClickHouse inside your product in place of per-seat BI. A stack we run ourselves.

04

Cloud and DevOps

AWS, Google Cloud or Azure done properly: infrastructure as code, CI/CD, secrets and cost guardrails.

05

Multi-tenant SaaS

Tenant isolation, row-level security and per-tenant configuration, so you can sell to enterprise without a rebuild.

06

Reliability and observability

SLOs, tracing, logging and alerting that tell you what broke and why, before the customer does.

Outcomes

What good looks like.

We measure ourselves on what your team does differently afterwards, not on hours billed.

30 to 40%

Typical BI licensing reduction when per-seat tools give way to embedded Superset and ClickHouse.

Multi-tenant

Tenant isolation and row-level security that let you sell to enterprise without a rebuild.

Boring deploys

CI/CD, infrastructure as code and observability, so releases are routine and outages explainable.

In-repo

Everything lands in your repo and your cloud account. No black box, no lock-in to us.

How we engage

Three ways to start. All begin with a call.

Compliance and data

Built for Australian rules from day one.

We build to the Essential Eight, the Privacy Act and its Australian Privacy Principles, APRA CPS 234 and CPS 230, the SOCI Act and the national Guidance for AI Adoption, plus AUSTRAC and ASIC rules where your sector needs them.

We are an Australian team headquartered in Surry Hills, Sydney. For Gold Coast engagements we run key sessions on site and the rest remotely, in your timezone.

Essential Eight

Built in, not bolted on.

ASD's eight mitigation strategies are mandatory for Commonwealth entities and now a standard ask in tenders, supply chains and cyber insurance. Most buyers want Maturity Level Two. We design every platform and agent we ship to meet it, and show you the evidence.

01
Application controlOnly approved software runs on servers and workstations.
02
Patch applicationsAutomated patching, with critical fixes inside 48 hours.
03
Office macro settingsMacros off by default, signed and trusted only.
04
User application hardeningBrowsers and apps locked down against common attacks.
05
Restrict admin privilegesJust-in-time admin, reviewed and logged.
06
Patch operating systemsSupported versions only, patched on a fixed cadence.
07
Multi-factor authenticationPhishing-resistant MFA for people and privileged access.
08
Regular backupsImmutable, tested backups you can actually restore.

Bars show our default target, Maturity Level Two. ASD is consulting on a broader Essentials series to follow the Essential Eight; the current model stays in force until it lands, and we track both.

Australian frameworks

The rules we design to.

Every Australian engagement starts with a map of which obligations apply to you. Then we build the controls into the architecture, so compliance is a property of the system rather than a document.

Questions

What Gold Coast teams ask.

Straight answers to what Gold Coast teams ask before they book.

Are you based in Gold Coast?

We are an Australian team headquartered in Surry Hills, Sydney. For Gold Coast engagements we run key sessions on site and the rest remotely, in your timezone. We work with teams across Southport, Surfers Paradise, Robina and Bundall.

How fast can you start?

A two-week Platform Assessment can start the Monday after the scoping call. Larger engagements usually begin one to two weeks out.

Do you work in AUD and to Australian rules?

Yes. We contract and price in AUD. We build to the Essential Eight, the Privacy Act and its Australian Privacy Principles, APRA CPS 234 and CPS 230, the SOCI Act and the national Guidance for AI Adoption, plus AUSTRAC and ASIC rules where your sector needs them.

Do you work in our existing stack?

Yes. We meet the codebase, cloud and tools you already run, and only recommend a change when staying clearly costs more than moving.

Can you help with embedded analytics specifically?

Yes. We run Apache Superset and ClickHouse embedded inside our own products, so it is an architecture we operate, not just recommend.

We're an SMB — isn't this overkill?

No — we right-size it. The point is reliability and lower cost-to-serve, not enterprise architecture. You pay for what your peak actually needs, and Superset gives real analytics without per-seat fees.

Can you stop our platform breaking at peak season?

Yes — peak reliability is usually caching, capacity and observability. We find where it breaks under load and fix it, so the busiest week of the year isn't the riskiest.

Do you actually build, or just advise?

Both, and we never advise without being willing to build. If the answer is Apache Superset, we stand it up. If it is a senior hire, we write the spec and sit on the panel.
